Heejun Woo (29, Heptakill), the national kabaddi representative, completed his second Asian Games performance. Korea lost 24-35 against Taiwan in the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games Kabaddi Women's Group A group stage held at the Xiaoshan Guali Sports Center in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China on the 4th, finishing with 3 losses. Heejun Woo said, “I’m not relieved,” and “I didn’t make it to the semifinals, so I have a lot of regret and disappointment.” He also added, “Still, I worked with the mindset of doing my best with my colleagues, so I hope you will continue to show interest in kabaddi.”
Woo Hee-jun attracted attention even before the 성인용품 Hangzhou Asian Games with his diverse career. Woo Hee-jun joined the Korea Tourism Organization immediately after graduating from high school, then retired. After discovering kabaddi during a trip to India in 2013, he competed as a member of the national team at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games and was selected as Miss Korea in 2019. He completed the Student Military Education Corps at university, was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army in 2021, and worked at the Special Operations Command's International Peace Support Group. After dispatching troops to Lebanon, he was discharged from the military as a lieutenant last June to participate in the Hangzhou Asian Games.
Woo Hee-jun was proud of his busier 20s than anyone else. Among them, the national team, military, and engineering school (university) are the best. Woo Hee-jun said, “It wasn’t that I vaguely wanted to try this and that, but I realized what I was lacking through self-reflection and immediately put it into practice.” He added, “People around me say, ‘Other people talk about the three major things through exercise, but you do the three major things through various challenges. He explained, “It represents the national university, the military, and the engineering school.” He also expressed satisfaction, saying, “I’m a little tired and in some painful situations because I’m busy, but I think this kind of life suits me well.”
Woo Hee-jun, who participated in the Asian Games twice as a member of the national team and devoted himself to his studies at university and graduate school twice, is also considering enlisting in the military for the second time. Woo Hee-jun said, “I am thinking about whether to continue playing kabaddi or use the reappointment system to return to the military.” Reserve lieutenants or captains can apply if they wish to re-enlist within 3 years of discharge. Heejun Woo said, “I might try something new, but right now I think I need some time for myself,” and added, “I will spend the remaining time working out and studying while setting new goals.”
Woo Hee-jun will return to Korea on the 9th after the closing ceremony of the Hangzhou Asian Games on the 8th. His life as a national representative will stop for a while, but read more he will now continue his busy life as a graduate student. Woo Hee-jun said, “I am currently attending graduate school, and I think I will have to take lectures as soon as I return. I haven’t been able to see my parents for a long time because of my national team activities, and the first thing I want to do is go home, say hello to my parents, and eat home-cooked food.”
